Abstract Background Energy is the main requirement for economic growth in any country and supports modern economy. The energy sector considered a vital element developing countries because it meets needs. This article addresses production of electricity using small hydroelectric power plants rural applications. objective this study was to assess potential Ribb dam plants. flow very important hydroelectricity as height proposed site constant available variable. Result duration curve will vary from 20 50% nominal flow. Further, decrease when percentage increases. best size plant producing maximum context future projected flows region. concluded that average 14.6331 m 3 /s, smooth head 70.37 m, 5.53 MW. Conclusion Small hydro system (SHP) promising alternative cheap renewable or areas.
